Introduction

ORP Sensor is used to measure the reduction solution redox potential (ORP). The front side of sensor is ORP Sensor electrode. It is a kind of electrode that can absorb and release electrons on its sensitive layer. The sensitive layer is a kind of inert metal. It is normally made of platinum and gold.


Usage

♦  Connect ORP Sensor to any port in SenseDisc.

♦  Connect electrode to ORP Sensor.

♦  Screw off electrode from the cover which contains solution. Immerse it into the liquid to be measured. Data will be collected.

♦  Clean the electrode after using. Place it back to the cover containing solution.


Notes

♦  The standard solution is saturated quinone hydroquinone solution (add quinone hydroquinone in standard buffer solution which pH=4.)

♦  If the soak solution in bottle is turbid or goes mouldy, please rinse the bottle and replace new soak solution.

♦  Configuration of soak solution: add 223.65g KCl into 1L standard solution which pH=4 and dissolve it completely.

♦  The surface of the ORP Sensor electrode (platinum or gold) should be shining, where the coarse or polluted surface will affect the potential (mV) of electrode. The following method can be used to clean and activate:

    a. Inorganic pollution: Dip the electrode into the 0.1mol/L dilute hydrochloric acid for 30 minutes. Use purified water to clean. Dip it into the 3.5mol/L potassium chloride solution for 6 hours.

    b. Organic oil pollution and oil film pollution: use cleaning solvent to clean the platinum or gold. Use purified water to rinse. Dip it into the 3.5mol/L potassium chloride solution for 6 hours.

    c. The platinum-gold surface is polluted seriously and formed oxidation film. Use the toothpaste to polish the platinum or gold surface. Use purified water to clean. Dip it into the 3.5mol/L potassium chloride solution for 6 hours.
